Message from Dean

Every child is a scientist with inquisitiveness to learn new things from the nature and this instinct is nurtured and research abilities are instilled in the School of Sciences to produce future scientists of our Nation. The School of Basic and Applied Sciences of Raffles University is an organized system of learning for providing a platform to convert the imaginations into innovations and further guide them for implementation. This is the motto of our School.

The highly qualified and efficient teachers of our school foster the research ability of the students besidesenabling the students to develop critical thinking through academic excellence. The curriculum is designed on par with UGC guidelines following CBCS with semester system. The School offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in all conventional sciences like Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics . To enrich the academic arena due to the increasing importance on research, from this academic year onwards the restructured courses like Microbiology, Biotechnology and Computer Sciences are also introduced in Undergraduate Courses. These courses provide adequate professional avenues and help the students to proceed for further studies or to get employment in global market. Basing on the scope of job opportunities and on demand from public, University also introduced both B.Sc Environmental Sciences and M.Sc Environmental Sciences from this academic year.

The entire faculty has guideships to mentor the research scholars to acquire doctorates. Besides the School also provides Certificate coursesin skill-based programswith short term duration in Mushroom cultivation, Vermiculture, Medical Lab Technician, Preparation of Bio fertilizers, Certificate course in Bioinformatics and Wild life conservation for better placements as the University has access to various industries as it is located amidst of industries in Japanese zone. Further the School also provides internship for outgoing students as it has tie up with various industries to provide first hand skill based training in hands on experiences.

To equip the students with advanced technology the School also has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Institute of Technology, Khokharajar, Assam, in Nanotechnology for student exchange program and by this act we are also spreading our aura of knowledge to other states of the country to make our students nationally and globally competent.
